Performance of Sonata for Bassoon and Piano, Christin Schillinger, bassoon, Dr. Diane Birr, piano.
Program will also include Oblivion by Astor Piazzolla, Black: for two bassoons by Marc Mellits, Graham's Cracker's: for solo bassoon, by Dana Wilson, and Dark Wood by Jennifer Higdon.
World Premiere of selected movements from Night Songs, David Neal, bass baritone, Suite from A New Eaarth from the recent Eternal Reflections album sung by the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble, and Batter's Box for tenor and piano, Dan Bates, tenor, with text by Ithaca-based writers Kenny Berkowitz and Bridget Meeds. Performance will take place at the Center for the Arts and will include an on-stage discussion with David Neal and Robert Paterson.
Performance of Sonata No. 1 for Violin and Piano by Kirsten Marshall, violin, and Diane Birr, piano on the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra's Chamber Music Series. This work was commissioned by Kirsten Marshall and Percy Browning. Other works on the program include Bartok's Contrasts and Smetena's String Quartet No. 1 in E Minor, "From My Life."
